Q Consulting is honored to be named a 2020 Best Places to Work by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. To achieve this award, the organization received a nomination and participated in an employee-led survey. The survey results landed Q Consulting on the list of Best Places to Work in the Twin Cities.
I met with Q Co-founder Jim Erickson to discuss what this award means to him and celebrate this exceptional accomplishment!
Q: Although Q Consulting has been recognized as one of the fastest growing companies in the Twin Cities 5 years in a row and has landed on both the Top IT Consulting Firm and Top Management Consulting Firm lists, you’ve mentioned that being a three-time Best Places to Work recipient means the most to you. Why is the Best Places to Work award your favorite?
A: “This award is my favorite for two reasons. First, this is not an award that the leaders of the company can apply for. It requires an organic nomination and is won organically. It allows the leaders to look at Q through the eyes, hearts, and minds of our employees and consultants. Secondly, receiving an award like this answers our most critical question. That question is “Are we providing value to our consultants and employees and furthermore is Q Consulting a place where people want to work and grow?”
Q: In today’s mostly virtual working environment, how do you plan to foster a “Best Place to Work” culture in the second half of 2020 and beyond?
A: “What I have found through this is that the stakes have been raised to create an impassioned, personal, and relationship-based organization. With the raised stakes, our goal is to meet this challenge head on. We want to make sure every employee of Q Consulting feels as valued today as they have the last year, or five, that they have been with the organization. One way we have followed through with this goal is providing employees and consultants necessary PPE to make sure they have what they need if there is a time that they are called back to the office. In addition to that, our focus is on listening to feedback and continuing to do what is right during these everchanging times. ”
Q: Is Q Consulting hiring during the pandemic?
A: “We have not slowed down one bit and have and will continue to hire. I strongly feel that regardless of where you work, you should make sure to work somewhere that is raising the bar and vowing to be better… someplace that values the employee and puts the humanity back into the people business.”
